tally — habit journal · effective 29 july 2026
tally is built to be private. the short version: your data stays with you, and we collect nothing. the one time anything leaves your device is when you choose it — iCloud sync, or a group you start or join — and even then it goes to Apple, not to us.
nothing. tally has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. there is no tally server and no tally account. we never see your habits, your notes, or anything about how you use the app.
your habits, streaks, and reflections are stored locally on your device. deleting the app deletes them. tally also offers optional iCloud sync, off by default: when you turn it on in settings, your data is mirrored to your private iCloud, encrypted in transit and at rest and accessible only to your Apple ID — tally has no way to read it. turning sync off stops further mirroring.
a group lets a few people keep one habit side by side. it is entirely optional — nothing is shared until you start a group or accept an invite, and the rest of the app works the same either way.
a group lives in a shared iCloud area hosted by the person who created it. apple carries it; there is no tally server, and we cannot read a group's contents.
what the other members of a group can see:
what never leaves your device: every other habit in your journal, and everything private about the habit you did share — its notes, amounts, reminders, and your signature. a group carries dates and a display name, nothing more.
the invite is a link, and anyone who has it can join and see the group. share it only with people you mean to let in. the app says this where the invite is created.
you can leave a group at any time; your member record is removed from it and your own marks stay in your journal, untouched. the person who created a group hosts it — if they end it, or delete the app, the group ends for everyone in it.
subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. we never see your payment details. you can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.
habit reminders are local notifications, scheduled and delivered on your device. they never touch a server.
tally does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children — because it collects no personal information at all.
if this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. since we collect nothing, changes would only ever describe new on-device, iCloud, or sharing features.
